Set in a small Mississippi town in the 1990s, DUST tells the story of one young woman’s efforts to learn the truth about the circumstances surrounding the lynching of her grandfather and the unlikely partnership that is forged between her and a man who as a child was present at the lynching 50 years earlier.

DUST explores how targeted racial violence continues to reverberate through generations.
The protagonist, Nia, is born in a generation that rejects silence and complacency, and she is determined to uncover the painful incidents that led to her grandfather’s death.
Nia’s discovery process brings her
face to face with the actual
witnesses of her grandfather’s
chilling murder, and she pushes
on through those who try to
block her from learning the
truth, even when her life is at risk.
